Album recommendations:
Cursive - The Ugly Organ
Domestica is a favorite among Kasher fans, but it's a wonder to me why
anyone would prefer Cursive without the addition of Gretta, the cellist.
I've only been a Cursive fan for 3 years, but they've grown a lot since
Domestica. The Ugly Organ's chaotic, pop-structured songs make my spine
tingle everytime I listen to it .. especially front row and center live.
Of Montreal - Satanic Panic in the Attic
Like Cursive's The Ugly Organ album, Of Montreal's most recent release,
Satanic Panic, is oozing with catchy pop-structured songs. In this album,
they're still the kooky, whimsical band that we've all grown to love...but
now their songs are actually sing-along-able.
Kings of Convenience - Versus
This is actually one of their collaborative cds--- it's full of tracks
from their past two albums, remixed. Surprisingly enough, the remixes
are better than the originals... how often does that happen? I guess
when you team up a great band like KoC with names like Four tet, Röyksopp,
Ladytron, you can't go wrong.
Pinback - Blue Screened Life
I love how Pinback's songs are always layered .. with lots of interesting
sounds to listen for. I actually prefer the Offcell EP over this album,
but the thread is called "name your favorite albums", not
name your favorite EPs.
The Smiths - Strangeways, Here We Come
Morrisey. Does this album need further explaination?
